Resources for ELL
Owl at Purdue ELL- this has worksheets, teachers resources and guidelines for writing. This will be super useful in my classroom as i teach ELL students. Awesome to have a resource where i can go to gather information that will be age an grade level appropriate for middle and high school students.
Teachit ELT- Great site that has teaching English resources by skill level, specialty, topic and function. It has language games, classroom resources and text exploration. The site also has some great language posters they offer as well.
ESL Cafe- Great landing stop to get ideas and to to find world wide resources. This site has more information about teaching English abroad, but is still a good resource to have available.
ESLGOLD.com- a multi-use website. I love that you can learn English with the resources available but also Spanish, French, Italian, German and Portuguese. You can do tons on this site: you can work on spelling, grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, writing, watch videos, and, take quizzes.
EnglishExercises.org- Awesome site that that gives me a teacher a easy to use resource that will aid students in learning valuable vocabulary and grammar. I like that the are teacher tested and used. It has practical English as well as academic English resources. It has songs, videos and worksheets.
Accommodations for ELL students- this is a PDF file that has a brief summary of ideas that you could use in the classroom. It has math, reading, science, social studies, and, writing. It is brief but is a good jumping off point to help t gen ed teachers thinking about how to accommodate ELL students.
Accommodations and Modifications- this is a word document that I found that is a good resource for explaining the difference between accommodation and modification and also fairness. It has a checklist that will come in hand as i lesson plan and differentiate for ELL learners.
