Welcome to my website. I am Mickey Anne Stinson. I am a girl from Idaho who fell in love with with a boy from Utah. I have lived In Orem since 2010, I moved here after graduating from Idaho State University with a degree in English. Most recently I have been getting my masters degree In Secondary Education English and am dual endorsed in Special Education at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. I currently am teaching at Lehi Jr. High in Lehi, Utah. I teach 8th grade English and 7th grade Reading skills. I love being a teacher. I took the long way around to being a teacher. I started college in 1991 as a secondary education major. Then I went to massage school. I was a massage therapist for 20 years, it was a wonderful career and I had the opportunity to help many people to get to a healthier place in their lives. In the back of my mind I always thought of myself as a teacher. Going back to college in my 30's was a big challenge and has been lots of fun. Now in my 40's I am living my dream. I AM A TEACHER!
Why Be a teacher?
I get asked this all the time. Being able to share my love of reading and writing is my dream job. Being able to teach young people that English can be fun is my perfect day. I am not here to change the world, but I might just help change a students view of themselves and the world around them. Reading and writing can open up entire new worlds to students. The idea in Growth Mindset that, " Our flaws are just a to-do list of things to improve", plays well into my personal educational philosophy that we each keep practicing until we get it right.
MY HOBBIES: singing, knitting and reading.
My favorite books: ( THIS IS JUST A FEW OF THEM)
